Hunter Gueydan Carbo 12 May 2026 Blog Post 3      Hello folks, I hope all of you are well, and that work has been rewarding. I have been enjoying work and realized the other day there isn't all that much of it left.  Before long we'll be back in school, and although I'll be happy to see everyone again, I know I will look back and remember everything I said I was going to do but never did. So I implore everyone to go and do whatever it is you have been promising yourself that you would.         Recently, work has been made up almost entirely of construction documents, spread across a few different projects. I have been enjoying being a part of the process in creating, compiling, and refining details, and getting to ask questions about construction processes and methodology.  I find this part of the project very fun, with construction details honestly being something I look forward to doing.  Recently, there was talks about constructi...

OJB/Populous??? (Houston) - Taylor - 8

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their internships. It's almost been 4 months! I'll be staying until here until August so I'll be here for the most part of the year which is crazy to think about. Anyways crazy news at the firm, OJB has been acquired by Populous design group 🤯. If you weren't familiar with them (I wasn't) they are a global design firm that have offices across the globe with regional headquarters in KC, London, and Brisbane. They are most known for creating large scale public spaces like stadiums and entertainment ventures. The primary goal of this integration in design is to extend the firm's internal influence on the space that surround those large gathering spaces. Jim Burnett, OJB's founder, and a couple of Populous' global directors actually visited the Houston office to announce the news. So I got a front row seat to it in person, which I never imagined I would experience during this internship. I'm cu...

CARBO - April 27th (Isa)

April 27th Everything and everyone at CARBO has been really great! I just wish at times that there were a bit more impromptu conversations and such, but other than that, things are really chill! Have been working on Folia and other planting projects! Still working on proposals and such, and sadly have been put to a halt on the playground design due to BREC not having the funds for it atm, or they’re trying to figure it out, but we all know how that goes lol! Hunter, Christopher, and I were able to attend the LCASLA conference and got to learn a lot!! There was this really great speaker who was an arborist and provided a lot of insight into trees. The room was so so quiet and intrigued by what he had to say! A lot of the CARBO team actually left at the same time, around 3:30 for different reasons, but that was funny. I had to leave to drive to Decatur, Alabama, for Regionals. (Shoot, idrk where this falls, but MY TEAM WON SECTIONALS!!! That means we got 1st place in the Gulf Coas...

April 13th Howdyyyy!!! Been working on a lot of projects! I've been able to render some graphics for a project for the Perkins Overpass! It’s going to connect a lot of those businesses, like BLDG 5 and Overpass Merchant, and have an actual plaza for people! I actually think the groundbreaking is sometime in early May! Started working on Folia, which is the project in Bossier that I told y’all about! So it’s really the first time I've been able to put the little Vectorworks skills to the test! The coolest part about this time was being able to be at the LA Capitol on April 1st, where they designated April and April 1st as the month of Landscape Architecture in Louisiana! It was so cool since it was announced by Robert Reich’s daughter, Barbara! I was also able to advocate a little bit about Landscape Architecture to some people at the Capitol and to some representatives of Louisiana! It was a really great experience!!! Oh, also, happy belated Easter! I was able to stick to m...

March 16, 2026 Hey y'all!! Been doing pretty well, thankfully, just always staying busy like always lol! At CARBO, I've been able to work on a lot of proposals, RFPs, and SOQs. Still working on a lot of things for the playground design as well. I was able to go back home for a wedding for the weekend and was actually able to go on a site visit by myself. The site that I went to visit is 2 minutes down the road from my house in Bossier!! It's called Folia, and it’s a commercial project. It’s inspired by European gardens, so it’s going to have that type of style. It will really be the first of its kind up in Bossier. But I was able to act like a big girl and talk to the surveyors and other workers on the site lol! This past weekend I also hosted Rose’s baby shower!! So so crazy that the baby is just around the corner! We had 10 people swing by, Maya and Christopher being some peeps y’all know! It was kinda stressful, but it turned out pretty great, thankfully, phew lol! Fo...

March 30 Wassupppp party people!! I hope everyone is having fun at their internships still! I know that staring at a screen all day can be kinda draining lol! So still working on municipal projects! Went on another site visit to Mirabeau with Amy and saw some progress being done! A whole trailer/truck was packed all the way with sabal palmettos!! It’s going to look awesome! Started working on planting designs as well with the commercial studio. Oh, for those who don’t know, there are different studios in CARBO: Municipal, Commercial, Institutional, and Residential. People work underneath multiple or stick to their studio! Hunter and I have been able to work in the different studios, which has been really great! We also had our crawfish boil on Friday! It was lots of fun and was very delicious. We played croquet and threw my frisbees lol, Hunter even managed to get it to the neighbor’s yard! On that Thursday, though, we were able to work on our CARBO labs. CARBO received plants f...

March 2 Hey hey hey!! Happy Mardi Gras and Ash Wednesday!!! Went to the church on Government Street for the first time during my lunch break, and let me tell you, that church was PACKED! It was a really nice service tho! Peep my ashes lol! I've been working a lot on the playground and just getting used to Vectorworks again. I also was able to work on some wayfinding signage for St. Mary Parish and also make details for it. I also worked on some graphics for Burden Gardens on Illustrator. I feel like I need to really learn more about Illustrator because, I’m ngl, I was struggling just a bit lol! But I've been talking to the office more and getting to know them more. Went to Okki Tokki with Sydney and have been doing really fun puzzles with everyone! Our Mardi Gras tournament was actually on one of the weekends, and it was very fun! We lost some games and won some, but overall, the Mardi Gras tournament is where we can kinda just let loose! Christopher and Rose supported me o...
