OJB (Solana Beach)- Greg Crawford #4
Hi y'all, it's me back with another post. So I have finally gotten out of the office! Wooohooo! Last Tuesday I went on a little adventure to two different nurseries. One being the Landscape Center in Riverside, where we looked at purchasing 4 Tipu trees for along the streetscape. Also as of January this year they started leasing more land to grow more trees, so I got to check out the early stages where they are growing Oaks, Pines, Olive Trees, and much more! Then our next stop we went to another nursery in Temecula. There we looked at getting 6 different Strawberry trees which is an OJB staple. This brought me back to the Chicago days when we visited Kaneville Tree Farms learning about leaders and trying to understand how the trees will mature. Well same applied with our visit. With the strawberry trees we were also looking at multistems so we really wanted to focus on the form of the tree. It was really fun actually tagging the trees and measuring them as well. We measure the trees using a long measuring pole and take pictures so that way when we go back and look at the photo, we understand the actual scale.
Last week I worked on a really fun masterplan that is being used for marketing purposes for an NFL practice facility area where there are going to be shops, restaurants, apartments, event spaces. It is still in the early stages so there was still a lot of coordination and design to be done, but the rendering needed to be done to get potential buyers interested. There was a little bit of a time crunch as well and had to start from nothing, so it was a little bit stressful but good to understand how that felt at a real job. Overall the job is going really well and I feel like I am a part of the team at OJB, which is awesome. Some coworkers and I go get lunch or get some froyo after work every week or so just to get out of the office and enjoy the weather.
Anyway, here are some pics! Bye for now!
Are these in a way Bonsai?
