Little sum up from my original post to now. I have been soaking up life as much as possible during this internship. I made a 2 day trip to Birmingham a couple of weeks ago for a concert, going to every concert I can within reason lately tbh , I rock climb 3x per week, and am in the middle of implementing/installing garden beds at my house.
I have proven my ability in CAD and as a reward I received... a lot more CAD work. I enjoy it if I am being honest. Since my first post I have now completed two code minimum issue for review landscape plans. The first was a Race Trac in Crowley and the second for a Rouses in Chalmette, cool full circle kind of moment. Code minimums are not exciting by any means and vary greatly—well, by the code—but they have been great for refining my knowledge of office standards and producing sheet sets. Did a handful of construction submittal reviews which can be semi engaging due to the nature of contractor negligence or as fun as reading the literature for a water fountain.
I had the opportunity to design some sidewalks for the park in my hometown (it's not much but its honest work) which will be a highlight if I can one day walk on them. Did some concept work for a neighborhood park in Houston with an existing train and medieval castle theme? A couple of weeks ago I had a crazy turnaround for a CD set of landscape plans for St. George that will be built by the end of June. I am currently working on the St. George city hall entry landscape that will also be built by end of June... apparently this turnaround rate is rare. CD set for that is due next Friday, not stressful at all haha ha ha. Made some ehibits for a 200 million dollar development coming to br very soon, It was cool but was needed right before another deadline and gave me some weekends of overtime.
All in all it has been great and I am always looking forward to learning more each day that I am here. I enjoy all of your blogs and hope to not skip over months of happenings again. It has quite literally been nonstop, I am unsure of how many projects I have dipped my feet into but its way more than I would have ever expected. Grateful to be staying here through the summer!
