These ast two weeks have certainly been interesting. Ive been through the entire process start to finish of concrete being laid. There was a whole lot more that goes into it than I had imagined.
Let me take you through the days step be step.
He specified that he wanted good drainage, a kickout for additional parking, all with a brick inlay to accent them.
Next, the old concrete had to go to give us a blank canvas.
Taken to the concrete cemetery/monolith of waste
With the level ground tilting the way we want to encourage sheet flow away from the house, the form work was added. This was follow quickly by the keyway(the metal dividers) which acts a control joint...explicitly stated not to be an expansion joint...concrete doesn't expand like asphalt, but it sure as heck shrinks.
Compared to the rest of this process, this step took about 1/10th of the total time spent.
We knocked out the entire pour in a VERY long day.
We had an addition 12 workers come in to cover all the brushing and pouring and smoothing and smoking like a lot of cigarettes.
And Voila, we just have to wait for it to cure!
Surely the final updates with come in the following post.
Certainly went through some gloves and outfits in the whole process ๐ซ
You've gotta keep up the 1 pet pic per post at this point ๐พ
