Hi everyone, it’s been a minute!

I’ve been soaking up every bit of Southern California over the last month. Between the internship and the weather, I’ve been staying busy exploring everything from going on hikes to local beaches. It’s been the perfect backdrop for a pretty busy month of work.

Lately, my workflow has been centered around heavy modeling, mostly transitioning from Rhino into either Lumion or D5 Render. It’s been a great learning experience and after using both programs I think I’m officially Team D5. In my experience, the capabilities, especially the planting tools, feel a bit more robust and efficient for the long run.

I’ve also been diving deep into InDesign, sharpening my layout skills while prepping diagrams for several upcoming client presentations.

The highlight of the month, though, was getting to experiment with some new AI tools. I was tasked with designing a pavilion structure, and instead of the traditional route, I used a mix of AI generators and web references to dial in the exact vibe we were looking for.

The coolest part? I was able to transition those AI-generated images into a 3D model using an image to geometry feature. It definitely took some trial and error (and a lot of prompt tweaking) to get the final product just right, but seeing the AI learn and adapt to what I wanted was incredibly unique. It’s a powerful tool to have in the kit.

Aside from the desk work, I’ve been eating my way through the city and visiting some seriously cool spots. I hope everyone else is having a fun internship so far!
