OJB (Houston) - Taylor - 1
I guess I'll be brave for once and post first lol. I also have nothing to do right now and everyone around me are in meetings I wasn't invited to ๐.
I started at OJB early last month, January 12, as I imagine a lot of y'all have as well. My first couple days consisted of onboarding paperwork, software setup, and getting to meet the rest of the team. Chandler, my desk buddy and the main guy who finds me things to do, had me update some rhino models and Lumion renderings to begin with.
The highlight of my first week though had to be making it onto the website. I felt way too proud of that. You gotta scroll all the way down to the bottom to find me ๐.
I began some real work doing grading studies for a clock/art installation/stage/tower/overlook over at the University of Houston. Thank God for Hayden or else I would've embarrassed myself for not knowing basic grading ๐. I modeled the thing like 15 different times as the team tried out new ideas of how to fit it into the landscape, Fun!
I honestly think it's gonna be cooler than anything we have at LSU, so I'm kinda jealous. I also think it's gonna be a pain in the a** to upkeep lol but we'll see. I wish I could show y'all some renderings. I might've said too much already, oops, but you'll know when it's finished what I'm talking about. Here's where it's gonna go!
The UH projects have taken most of my time while I've been here. OJB won UH's Centennial project, which is basically a giant campus redesign to make it more walkable, pedestrian friendly, and restore the total canopy area. There's like 5 projects within it so it's all kinda crazy. I think campus design is super interesting, so the workload is right up my alley ๐.
Besides all that they've got me working on other projects here and there. A few CAD drawings, diagramming, presentations, and conceptual studies. I've had my hands on quite a few projects already (about 6?) which I'm happy about. The pace of the projects here is crazy, they barely have enough time to find me something to do. I guess I don't have an excuse not to post here ๐ต.
Anyways I'm looking forward to learning about what y'all's offices are like, what projects are going on, and how life is wherever y'all are. I've got nothing to report on outside of work here in Houston lol I've gone back to BR pretty much every weekend.
Here's some of the only pics I've taken so far! I'll be sure to take more.
Where I take my morning and afternoon meals. Theres a tribe of stray dogs that pass by sometimes ๐
