Hello again! I hope everyone has had a productive first month at their internships. I'm definitely starting to feel settled in at the office and I hope y'all have as well!
The past two weeks have been a little bit of a changeup in terms of what I've been working on. Andrew, the principal in charge of our little group and who sits behind Chandler, sent me 16 sheets from a project they're revisiting that he wanted me to revise. Before this I had close to 0 experience with AutoCAD sheet sets and base drawings that Xref into each other in all sorts of ways, so I've learned a bunch.
"Here's some work, go drown." - Andrew
🫠 I definitely got thrown in the deep end with this assignment, but everyone around me were happy to answer my questions and guide me through things, including Andrew. He's a chill supervisor; he didn't put a timeline on finishing it (I'm still working on it after 2 weeks lol). He also likes to talk about his wife and daughter, very wholesome, and I enjoy listening to him make fun of people he thinks are bad at their jobs 🤣. His Es Devlin impression is also hilarious 🤫.
In between working on that Chandler had me improve a few Lumion renderings that the new UH campus architect wanted. I didn't do most of the work you can see, disclaimer, but I cleaned up some of the views a bit and did a little photo editing. The office has this paintbrush effect they like to process their renders sometimes, definitely looks better than raw Lumion.
Only other thing to mention at the office is the brain melting IT issues
we've been having. Almost every day something goes wrong with the virtual machine software we have 🤬. I literally had to submit my 6th helpdesk ticket since I started here while writing this blog. Super frustrating.
Anyways, I actually stayed in Houston this past weekend and did a few things for once. Most weekdays I go home after work and play video games or watch a show until I fall asleep, so it was nice to get out. 😁
I went for a walk around Memorial Park, a super cool forested space within the city. So many people were out there picnicking, running, or just chilling. Also had this cool freeway overpass for pedestrians. Nice city view 🏢☁️
I also went to the Menil Art Museum, as it was recommended by a guy from the office. They had a lot of historic artifacts that were cool to see. It was free too!Frog Hat! 🐸
I was gifted a tiny pot and some poppy seeds, hopefully these little guys grow!
Last note! I have not seen the tribe of dogs that pass by under my window since my last post 😔. I'm going to assume they have adventured to farther lands, keep a look out!
Great update! Sorry u had to work on cad for 2 weeks thou..
