Cotleur and Hearing Isa Vidal 1-4
Hey y'all, I'm a little late but I started at CH on the 19th! So far it's been a great experience and I have been able to work on a range of project from residential design lots of work for local school. My team focuses on the Treasure Coast of Florida, so the biggest adjustment has been learning all the plants they use out here. This includes A LOT of palms. I spend most of my time in CAD to create planting designs using Land F/x. I've got to join in on meetings with clients to go over their designs and give my input. I've been able to work on a lot of projects solo which has been a great experience and quickly been able to pick up on the company standards and how they want everything done.
Jupiter Lighthouse
My office is located in Jupiter, which is about 20 minutes from where I'm staying outside of West Palm Beach. Jupiter is a beach town with the most beautiful crystal-clear beaches and the best weather I could ask for this time of year (I'm not prepared for the summer). I've had the chance to visit a couple of these beaches including Juno and Blowing Rocks Preserve. I also visited the Loggerhead Marine center where they help rehabilitate injured loggerhead turtles.

To help learn the plants a bit better, I went to the Jonathan Dickinson State Park and enjoyed the hike being surrounded by tall pines and palms, so many palms. I'm excited to continue exploring these parks and the tropical landscapes that we don't see much of in Louisiana.
So many palms
As a part of ASLA Florida, I got to join the group on a sketch walk in Fort Lauderdale at the Bonnet House. It was a great chance to meet other landscape architects in the area and to explore a bit too. Looking forward to what else these next couple of months have in store.

ReplyDeleteThe pine-palm combo reminds me of that Savannah trip, also Bryce's final project with the turtles π’
